With more than pride on the line, first-placed Orlando Pirates are hoping to bag their first league title since the 2011/12 season as they hold a slender one-point lead over Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand in second position.

Following a 3-0 win against AmaZulu last time out, Pirates have now recorded three wins and two draws in their last five, while Chiefs recorded four wins and one stalemate in the same number of matches.

Amakhosi, on the other hand, are looking to qualify for the Caf Confederation Cup at the end of the season as they maintain a seven-point advantage over fourth-placed AmaZulu in third spot.

Sundowns, who could bag their ninth consecutive league trophy, will take on Richards Bay at the sold-out uMhlathuze Stadium on Sunday.

After reaching the Caf Champions League final, Sundowns returned to Betway Premiership duties with a 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch at home on Wednesday night.

The Chloorkop giants have now recorded four wins and one draw in their last five Betway Premiership assignments as they attempt to end the season on a high.

Elsewhere, Golden Arrows could extend their winning streak to three matches when they face Siwelele at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Friday. Abafana Bes’thende recorded wins against Durban City and Orbit College last time out as they head into this weekend’s fixture list hoping to strengthen their place in eighth position.

On Sunday, TS Galaxy will target a return to the win column when they welcome Magesi to the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

The Rockets are among the poorest performing teams in the Betway Premiership at the moment after noting four losses on the spin. Their run includes a 6-0 drubbing by Orlando Pirates, with the latest being a 1-0 loss at home against Richards Bay on 19 April.
